Building Safe and Happy Spaces

Transforming communities through compassion, connection, and care

This EU-funded initiative is conducted in collaboration with UNODC and NACTA.

For the first time ever, this workshop reveals the secret behind the Kiran Foundation’s signature practices that cultivate its culture, a model that has consistently created safe, happy, and deeply nurturing spaces for children, mothers, and everyone under its wings.

As teachers, caregivers, educators, school leaders, and anyone responsible for the spaces where children live, learn, and grow, we hold the power to shape how a child feels every single day. True transformation begins not just with what we teach, but with how safe, seen, and supported a child feels in that space.

Let’s come together to create spaces where children feel safe, seen, and loved because that’s where the transformation begins.

About the Trainer and Workshop Series

This workshop series is led by Ms. Sabina Khatri, the visionary founder of Pakistan’s first trauma-informed, mother-child school system. With over two decades of grassroots experience in Lyari, she has worked closely with families and children who have experienced extreme adversity.

Beyond Lyari, she has established schools in Kati Pahari (Karachi), Alamabad (Swabi), and now in Ghizer (Gilgit-Baltistan). As the Kiran model continues to expand, we are ready to share this knowledge with others so that more spaces can become safe and happy for children everywhere.

Through her work with diverse communities, Ms. Khatri has gathered first-hand insights that are adaptable across different cultures and traditions. The model has been successfully customized to meet the needs of each new region, as demonstrated during the expansion from Lyari to Kati Pahari.

Through this journey, she has developed a unique, culturally rooted framework that blends compassion, structure, and connection. While it is informed by global trauma and education theory, the purpose of this training is not to intellectualize but to humanize how we understand, support, and lead others.
